Folkestone shuttle, through France, then Mont Blanc or Fréjus depending on the season and the destination.

Italy is the smallest of our three routes by volume and the most demanding at the far end. The Alps are a driving problem, solvable with the right vehicle and an eye on the season. The Italian building is a furniture problem, and it is the one that decides the day.

Historic centres run restricted traffic zones with cameras and real fines, so whether we can reach your door at all is a question we settle before the van leaves rather than on arrival. Where the answer is no, the load is carried and we measure that distance at survey.

Inside, stone stairs turn tightly and door heads were cut before mass-produced furniture existed. Occasionally a piece genuinely does not go in, and we would rather tell you that in the UK than in Florence with the street closing at six.

Cities & regions

5 covered

MILAN & TURIN

Courtyard buildings with a portineria and a small lift. The most straightforward Italian delivery.

ROME

Historic-centre addresses where a van may be excluded outright. The carry is measured, not estimated.

FLORENCE & TUSCANY

Stone stairs, low door heads, streets no long vehicle turns into.

THE LAKES

Approaches that narrow as they climb. Sometimes only a smaller vehicle makes the last stretch.

NAPLES & THE SOUTH

The longest Italian drive, with access varying street by street.

Customs & paperwork

Italy is in the EU customs union. We file the UK export declaration and the Italian import declaration, and apply for transfer-of-residence relief where you qualify. You supply the passport, the codice fiscale, and proof of the Italian address or the residenza registration at the comune. Nothing here is legal, tax or immigration advice.

Demand metric

Demand drives the route schedule. Higher demand = more frequent shared-slot departures = lower wait windows.

Common Italy questions

FAQ. ANSWERS, NOT ESSAYS.

Q01. Can you deliver inside a restricted zone?
Where access and permits allow, yes. Where they do not, the load is carried from the nearest legal standing point, and we measure that distance at survey because it changes the crew and the day.
Q02. What if an Alpine pass closes?
The load is delayed. We do not control passes, tunnels or weather and will not pretend otherwise. What we control is packing good enough that sitting still does no harm.
Q03. Could my furniture genuinely not fit?
In an old Italian building, yes. We establish it at survey. Knowing in the UK is worth a great deal; finding out in Tuscany is worth nothing at all.
Q04. Is crating worth it on this route?
For mirrors, marble, glass and framed work, yes. A long road run with a mountain crossing is exactly the case timber crates exist for.
